Steering box may seize
A displaced retaining circlip may cause the steering box to seize, resulting in sudden loss of steering control. Drivers are advised to stop using the vehicle; a refurbished steering box will be supplied and fitted when validated parts are available.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- STEERING BOX MAY FAIL
- Defect

Issue came to light on the investigation of two customer vehicles which experienced the above symptoms. In both cases LTI Vehicles were able to confirm the symptoms and establish the root cause as a displaced retention circlip within the working mechanism of the steering box.
- Remedy
- LTI Vehicles will inform customers of this potential issue and recommend that they stop using their vehicle. A refurbished steering box will be supplied and fitted on all of the affected vehicles as soon as validated parts become available.
Steering drop arm may become loose
The steering drop arm retention nut may loosen, making steering erratic in extreme conditions. The nut will be removed, thread sealant applied and the nut refitted and tightened to the specified setting.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- STEERING DROP ARM MAY BECOME LOOSE
- Defect

Battery cable connection may short circuit
The positive battery cable may be insecure at the starter motor, causing starting difficulty, loss of engine power or an electrical short against nearby metal parts. The cable fixing will be checked and the lead replaced if needed.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- SHORT CIRCUIT MAY OCCUR
- Defect
- The battery/alternator positive lead connection has been found insecure in its crimped connector to the starter motor on a small number of vehicles. This could cause prolonged engine cranking/difficulty in starting and if they detached from the starter motor during normal driving the engine would eventually loose power. It could also result in the cable electrically shorting against metalic components in the surrounding area.
- Remedy
- Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to test the cable fixing and where necessary replace the entire positive lead.
Rear axle fastener may fail and affect steering
The rear axle Panhard rod fastener may fail, allowing lateral axle movement and potentially causing loss of directional control. The fastener will be replaced.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- STEERING CONTROL MAY BE LOST
- Defect
- The axle fastner of the rear axle panhard rod may fail. This will initially cause lateral movement of the axle which if ignored may lead to loss of directional control.
- Remedy
- Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the axle fastner of the panhard rod.
