Hydraulic clutch actuator circuit board may short
Fluid may contaminate the hydraulic clutch actuator circuit board and cause an electrical short, which in extreme cases could lead to an engine compartment fire while driving. The vehicle will be checked for related fault codes. Depending on the result, the actuator, connector and reduced-amperage fuse will be replaced, or only the fuse will be fitted; the fuse board will be modified to suit.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- Kia Ceed PHEV HCA Fuse Replacement
- Defect
- The printed circuit board (PCB) in the Hydraulic Clutch Actuator (HCA) may become contaminated with fluid. A fluid contaminated PCB may lead to an electrical short circuit which in extreme cases may potentially result in a fire in the engine compartment while driving.
- Remedy
- Check vehicle for Diagnostic Trouble Codes if HCA related codes are found replace the HCA its connector and reduced amperage fuse modifying the fuse board to suit. If no related DTC are recorded fit reduced amperage fuse only modifying the fuse board to suit.
Blocked pump filter may increase stopping distance
A blocked tandem pump filter may starve the vacuum pump of oil and cause it to fail, removing brake assistance and potentially increasing stopping distance. The filter will be removed and the pump checked; a damaged pump or drive belt will be replaced.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- The mesh filter inside the tandem pump may block causing insufficient oil supply and a risk of vacuum pump failure. If the pump fails there will be no vacuum assistance and the possibility of increased braking distance when applying the brake pedal.
- Defect
- The mesh filter inside the tandem pump may block causing insufficient oil supply and a risk of vacuum pump failure. If the pump fails there will be no vacuum assistance and the possibility of increased braking distance when applying the brake pedal.
- Remedy
- Remove the mesh filter and check the vacuum pump for damage if damaged replace the pump/drive belt.
Brake fluid may be contaminated
Topping up with the wrong fluid may contaminate the brake fluid. The brake master cylinder will be replaced and the brake fluid changed.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- VEHICLES MAY HAVE BRAKE FLUID CONTAMINATION CAUSED BY TOPPING UP WITH AN INCORRECT FLUID
- Defect
- On affected vehicles there may be some contamination of the brake fluid due to topping up with an incorrect fluid.
- Remedy
- Replace the brake master cylinder and change the brake fluid on affected vehicles.
Brake master cylinder may increase stopping distance
The brake master cylinder may be out of specification, which could increase stopping distances. It will be checked and replaced if needed.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- BRAKES MAY NOT PERFORM CORRECTLY
- Defect
- The brake master cylinder on some models fitted with ESP may not be to specification and the result could be longer than expected stopping distances.
- Remedy
- Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to check the brake master cylinder and where necessary replace the master cylinder.
