Reported April 23, 2007Model years 2004–2007DVSA recall R/2007/04516,056 vehicles affected

The diesel particulate filter may overheat, causing smoke, flames or an orange glow. Heat could melt interior components and potentially cause an interior fire. Engine management software will be updated; the vehicle will self-test for blockage and the filter replaced if required.

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
    DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER EXCESSIVE HEAT
    Defect
The diesel particulate filters (DPF) of the 2.7 litre engine may exhibit smoke and or fire from the underside of the vehicle flames emanating from within the rear exhaust tailpipe or an orange glow from the underside of the vehicle. Heat from within the DPF can radiate to the surrounding vehicle components and may lead to heating of the underside of the transmission tunnel and subsequent melting of interior components with the potential for an interior fire.
    Remedy
Recalled vehicles will have the engine management control module re-programmed with the latest calibration file. The vehicle will self test for DPF blockage which where required will be replaced.
  2. Prototype fuel tank durability is unknown

Reported December 7, 2006Model years 2007NHTSA campaign 06V4670009 vehicles affected

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
AUTO GEARBOX MAY ENGAGE REVERSE WHEN IN FORWARD DRIVE.
    Defect
    (a) In conditions of low oil pressure or a sticking valve in the gearbox with the vehicle stationary in Drive the gearbox will without warning or indication select Reverse. (b) With the vehicle moving forward in 1st 2nd or 3rd gear reverse may be selected without any manual input in the event of a loss of oil pressure in the transmission.
    Remedy
Reprogramme the gearbox gear selector module.

Reported November 23, 2000Model years 1999–2000DVSA recall R/2000/11918,062 vehicles affected

Insufficient torque at the front lower ball joint may cause fatigue and fracture of the ball stud, separating the lower control arm from the knuckle and limiting steering control. The joint will be checked and the vertical link replaced if necessary.

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION BALL JOINT MAY FAIL
    Defect
An under torque condition may exist in the front lower ball joint. This may result in a high bending fatigue loading of the joint which could result in a fracture of the first thread of the ball stud which then leads to separation of the lower control arm from the knuckle. This separated condition will limit steering control.
    Remedy
Recall affected vehicles and check ball joint security and condition. Replace vertical link if necessary.
  13. Front lower ball joint nuts may loosen

Reported November 6, 2000Model years 2000–2001NHTSA campaign 00V35900238,681 vehicles affected

Loose ball joint nuts could allow a stud to fracture, affecting vehicle control and increasing crash risk. Dealers will check the torque and tighten the fasteners to specification or replace the ball joints as needed.

    Official NHTSA recall text
    Component
    SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT
    Defect
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE NOT TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATIONS WHEN THEY WERE ATTACHED TO THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS.
    Consequence
IF THE BALL JOINT ATTACHING NUTS ARE NOT ADEQUATELY TIGHTENED, THEY CAN LOOSEN AND ULTIMATELY, RESULT IN FRACTURE OF THE BALL JOINT STUD. IF THE BALL JOINT FRACTURES, CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE COULD BE AFFECTED, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
    Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TORQUE ON THE TWO BALL JOINT ATTACHING NUTS. VEHICLES WITH LOOSE BALL JOINT ATTACHING NUTS WILL EITHER HAVE THE FASTENERS TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATION, OR IF NECESSARY, THE BALL JOINTS WILL BE REPLACED.

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
    SEAT BELT BUCKLE CONCERN
    Defect
A component within each front seat belt buckle may have received insufficient heat treatment. This may result in unintentional release of the set belt latch if it is subjected to a loading which exceeds the standard specified by EEC Regulation 16 during an accident.
    Remedy
Recall vehicles and check production date codes on both front seat belt buckle assemblies. Replace all buckle assemblies falling within the affected production dates with quality assured units.

Reported August 25, 2000Model years 2000–2001NHTSA campaign 00V2280045,477 vehicles affected

The buckle base may not meet the required load strength because it was not properly heat treated. In a crash, an occupant may not be properly restrained. Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt buckles if necessary.

    Official NHTSA recall text
    Component
    SEAT BELTS
    Defect
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH TRW SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES. THE BUCKLE BASE OF THESE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES WERE NOT PROPERLY HEAT TREATED AND THEREFORE DO NOT PASS THE LOAD BEARING REQUIREMENT OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 209, "SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES."
    Consequence
IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY RESTRAINED.
    Remedy
