The remedy is to check the software and update it if needed, or replace the steering rack where the vehicle cannot be accessed for the software update.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- LOSS OF CONTROL
- Defect
- The electric power steering system may still be set in the factory operating mode. In this condition where another defect arises with the electric power steering system the driver may experience additional unexpected steering inputs from the electric power steering system. These additional system generated steering inputs may exceed the ability of a normal driver who may lose vehicle control with no warning. This can increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to either 1. inspect the electronic power steering software version and where necessary download the correct software or 2. where the vehicle is not accessible to the supplier due to logistical reasons the dealer will replace the steering rack with a steering rack built to the correct specification.
Incorrect rear anti-roll bar may cause loss of control
An incorrectly specified rear anti-roll bar may prevent the stability control system from correcting oversteer in extreme low-grip conditions, increasing the risk of losing control and a crash. The bar will be replaced with the correct specification.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- LOSS OF CONTROL
- Defect
- Anti-Roll bars of incorrect specification have been fitted to vehicles equipped with All Wheel Drive (AWD) with Constantly Variable Damping (CVD). In this mis-built condition at the extremes of adhesion and in an over steer situation the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system will not mitigate the over steer. The drivers will most likely loose vehicle control of the vehicle. This can increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the rear Anti-roll bar with the correct specification component.
Vehicle may become unstable at high speeds
If the rear spoiler does not deploy, engine management software may fail to limit vehicle speed to 137mph. This could affect stability. New software will be installed.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- VEHICLE MAY BECOME UNSTABLE AT HIGH SPEEDS
- Defect
- Due to an issue with the software in the engine management system (EMS) it is possible that the EMS will not restrict the vehicle speed to 137mph if the Deployable Rear Spoiler (DRS) does not deploy when it should . This can affect vehicle stability; although this should not affect vehicles used in the UK due to the National Speed Limit however it could affect vehicles that travel to Europe or are used on private grounds.
- Remedy
- Recall all affected vehicles to have new software installed.
Passenger airbag may not be suppressed
Incorrect wiring of the seatbelt tension sensor may prevent the passenger airbag from being suppressed for a child restraint or small adult. The airbag could deploy in a crash and increase injury risk. Dealers will correct the wiring free of charge.
Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING
- Defect
- Jaguar Land Rover North America LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 F-TYPE vehicles manufactured August 31, 2012, to October 22, 2014. In the affected vehicles the seatbelt harness connector which connects the Seatbelt Tension Sensor (STS) to the Occupant Classification Sensor Control Module (OCSCM) may not have been correctly wired. The OCSCM senses whether there is an occupant in the front passenger seating position, and the STS senses whether tension on the seatbelt indicates a child restraint is being used in the front passenger seating position. Both sensors provide information to the restraint control module (RCM) which informs whether the front passenger airbag should be activated, depending on whether the sensors detect the seat is occupied and/or that it is occupied by an adult passenger.
- Consequence
- Should the STS not have been wired correctly, the front passenger air bag may not be suppressed, and may remain activated, even when a child restraint is placed in the front passenger seat or a small statured adult occupies that seat. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front passenger air bag, a child or small stature occupant may be at an increased risk of injury.
- Remedy
- Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will correct the harness connector wire configuration, free of charge. The recall began on December 3, 2014. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is J047.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Alternator cable may loosen and raise fire risk
A loose alternator cable fixing may increase fire risk. Failed engine accessory fixings could also cause loss of steering assistance. The front accessory fixings will be inspected and tightened to specification.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- RISK OF FIRE
- Defect
- The positive cable fixing to the alternator may come loose and lead to an elevated risk of fire. Additionally there are concerns raised regarding the fixings for the engine mounted belt driven ancillaries. If the fixings fail power assistance to the steering can be lost and more input from the driver will be required to steer the vehicle.
- Remedy
- Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect and torque the front ancillary fixings to the correct specification.
Engine components may detach
The accessory drive belt, power steering pump pulley or alternator battery cable may detach. A loose cable can cause an electrical short and fire; a detached belt can cause loss of power steering and increase crash risk. Dealers will inspect and correct the components free of charge.

In the affected vehicles, the Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) belt, Power Assisted Steering (PAS) pump pulley and/or battery positive cable at the alternator may detach.
- Consequence
- If the battery positive cable loosens, an electrical short may result, increasing the risk of a fire. If the FEAD belt looses or detaches, the vehicle may lose power assisted steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
