On affected vehicles Inspect engine and cooling system. Replace affected components and fit a Coolant Level Sensor along with associated software to provide and audible and visual warning to the driver.
  37. Side or knee airbags may fail to deploy

Reported September 4, 2017Model years 2016DVSA recall R/2017/2415,829 vehicles affected

A defective airbag initiator may prevent the side or knee airbags from deploying in a collision, putting occupants at further risk. The airbags and initiators will be checked and replaced where necessary.

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
SIDE AND/OR KNEE AIRBAG MAY FAIL TO DEPLOY IN A COLLISION
    Defect
The airbag initiator may be defective and may prevent the side airbag(s) and/or knee airbag deploying in the event of an accident. In a collision the airbags not deploying could put the occupants at further risk.
    Remedy
Recall the 1943 vehicles that are likely to be affected to check and where necessary replace the side and knee protection airbags complete with initiators.
  38. B-pillar trim insulation may ignite

Reported August 30, 2017Model years 2012–2014DVSA recall R/2017/23829,904 vehicles affected

In a collision that deploys the front seat belt pretensioner, heat may ignite insulation on the inner face of the lower B-pillar trim. A section of insulation will be removed from both B-pillar trims.

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
B-PILLAR TRIM INSULATION TOO CLOSE TO THE SEAT BELT PRETENTIONER
    Defect
In the event of a colision which deploys the front seat belt retractor pre-tensioner there is a possibility that the insulation material on the inner face of lower 'B' pillar trim could be subjected to a concentrated heat source that could ignite the insulation material resulting in fire.
    Remedy
Remove a section of the insulation material on both B pillar trims.
  39. Heated washer jets may overheat

Reported June 5, 2017Model years 2010DVSA recall R/2017/1074,382 vehicles affected

Water may enter poorly sealed washer jet heating elements, causing corrosion and overheating that could damage the nozzle housing and cowl grille, with smoke or a burning smell. New washer jets will be fitted.

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
    HEATED WASHER JETS MAY OVERHEAT
    Defect
The heated washer jets fitted to some Kuga vehicles may have jet heating elements that are not correctly sealed. There is a possibility that poor sealing could lead to corrosion due to water ingress and subsequent overheating of the jets. An overheating jet element will damage the nozzle housing and may cause local heat/fire damage to the cowl grille accompanied by smoke and burning smell.
    Remedy
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and fit new washer jets.
  40. Heated washer jets may overheat

Reported November 18, 2016Model years 2008–2010DVSA recall R/2016/06720,358 vehicles affected

Poorly sealed heated washer jets may corrode after water enters, causing overheating and heat or fire damage to the cowl grille, with possible smoke and a burning smell. New washer jets will be fitted.

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
    RISK OF FIRE
    Defect
The heated washer jets may have jet heating elements which are not correctly sealed.
  41. Heated washer jets may overheat

    Reported April 5, 2016Model years 2008–2010EU Safety Gate A12/0487/16

Poorly sealed heating elements in the washer jets could let in water, causing corrosion and overheating that could lead to a fire. The product is to be recalled from end users.

    Official EU Safety Gate text
    Component
    Fire
    Defect
null The heated washer jets may have jet heating elements which are not correctly sealed. There is a possibility that poor sealing could lead to corrosion due to water ingress and subsequent overheating of the jets which could lead to a fire.
    Remedy
Recall of the product from end users

  42. Brake pedal may become hard during warm-up

Reported May 21, 2009Model years 2008–2009DVSA recall R/2009/05078,174 vehicles affected

The vacuum pump valve may stick during engine warm-up. Repeated braking could use up stored vacuum, causing a hard pedal and longer stopping distances. A revised valve will be fitted.

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
HARD BRAKE PEDAL MAY OCCUR DURING ENGINE WARM UP
    Defect
During engine warm up it is possible that the non return valve within the vacuum pump may stick. It is possible that if sufficient brake applications are made before the valve releases the vacuum stored within the brake booster will be used up and a hard brake pedal and longer stopping distances may result.
    Remedy
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to fit a revised design of non return valve to the brake vacuum pump.
