Parking brake may not hold the vehicle
The parking brake ratchet may partly engage and its teeth may wear, reducing its ability to hold the vehicle. The parking brake lever assembly will be replaced with one having a revised tooth profile.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- PARKING BRAKE RATCHET CONCERN
- Defect
- The design of the parking brake ratchet teeth can allow a partial engagement resulting in damage to the tooth which can then slip to the next tooth. If ignored the wear will continue on the next tooth and the efficiency of the parking brake may become insufficient to hold the vehicle in place.
- Remedy
- Replace parking brake lever assembly with one that has a revised tooth profile.
Battery cable may cause an electrical short
The battery cable may be misrouted or have a loose connection at the alternator B+ stud, creating a risk of an electrical short. The stud torque and cable routing will be checked, and damaged cables replaced.
