What kind of car is the Dodge Caliber?

The Dodge Caliber is a compact five-door hatchback with a tall, upright shape and a practical cabin. It replaced the Neon in Dodge’s compact-car range, trading the Neon’s rounded sedan shape for a more crossover-influenced look. Its hatchback layout suited drivers who wanted a compact car with flexible interior space.

The Caliber had one generation, sold from 2007 to 2012. It also brought Dodge’s compact-car range to Europe, where it was offered alongside North American versions.

Engines and power

Engine and fuel choices differed by country. US and Canadian versions used petrol engines from 1.8 L to 2.4 L. UK figures cover 1.8 L to 2.0 L petrol and diesel engines, while EU registrations include petrol, diesel and LPG versions with engines from 1.8 L to 2.4 L. In the EU, listed power spans 103 kW (140 PS) to 125 kW (170 PS).

How economical is the Dodge Caliber?

The lowest UK consumption figure is 6 L/100 km on the NEDC test. In the United States, the best combined EPA rating is 27 MPG, with lowest listed consumption of 8.7 L/100 km. Canada’s lowest listed figure is also 8.7 L/100 km, measured on the NRCan 5-cycle test. NEDC, EPA and Canadian 5-cycle procedures differ, so these market figures are not direct equivalents.

Where was the Caliber sold?

The Caliber was sold in the EU, UK, United States and Canada. EU registration figures show 7,501 Calibers registered from 2010 to 2012. Its hatchback layout gave Dodge’s compact-car range a different shape on both sides of the Atlantic.
