OBD-II fault code

U062A: Lost Communication With A/C Refrigerant Distribution Valve Actuator A

What it means

The vehicle bus reports loss of communication with smart A/C refrigerant distribution valve actuator A. Routing of refrigerant between cabin / battery / power-electronics chillers cannot be commanded.

How it works

A/C refrigerant distribution valve actuator A is a networked actuator that routes refrigerant among supported circuits such as the cabin, battery, and power electronics chillers. The vehicle monitors its network messages so modules can command the valve. U062A sets when actuator A stops communicating, leaving its refrigerant routing unavailable.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Bus wiring open or shorted
  2. Module without power or ground
  3. Module failed

Symptoms

  • Multiple warning lights may illuminate
  • Affected modules may go into limp mode or shut down
  • Specific functions inoperative depending on module
  • Diagnostic tools may show communication faults

How to diagnose it

  1. Scan all modules and save event data to identify which warnings or functions began when actuator A communication was lost.
  2. Check live data and command status for distribution valve actuator A, and note whether other distribution valve actuators remain online.
  3. Inspect actuator A's connector and accessible bus wiring for damage, moisture, corrosion, or loose pins.
  4. Check actuator A's power and ground against the manufacturer's specification, following any high-voltage isolation precautions specified for the vehicle.
  5. Test its communication circuit for opens or shorts using the wiring diagram and manufacturer's procedure before condemning the actuator.

Common fixes

  • Secure or repair the actuator A connector and damaged wiring.
  • Restore actuator A's power or ground supply.
  • Repair an open or short in actuator A's communication circuit.
  • Replace actuator A if its power, ground, and network wiring test correctly but communication remains absent.

Can I keep driving?

The vehicle may disable cabin cooling or thermal management for the battery or power electronics, and some vehicles may limit power or shut down affected functions. Follow any vehicle warning about reduced power or thermal-system faults and avoid continued driving if such a warning appears.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
