What it means
A receiving module detected implausible data from door switch G. Open/closed state or contact bounce values fail plausibility checks and are rejected.
How it works
Door switch G reports whether its associated door is open or closed, and other modules use those state updates. U0522 sets when a receiving module considers door switch G's data implausible and rejects it.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Module internal fault or sensor input drift
- Software version mismatch after replacement
- Gateway module routing CAN messages incorrectly
Symptoms
- Multiple warning lights may illuminate
- Affected modules may go into limp mode or shut down
- Specific functions inoperative depending on module
- Diagnostic tools may show communication faults
How to diagnose it
- Scan all modules and record freeze-frame data and related body-system codes to identify which module rejected door switch G's data.
- Watch the door-open status in live data while opening and closing the door associated with switch G, checking that the reported state changes cleanly.
- Inspect door switch G, its latch or contact area, and the door wiring and connectors for damage, contamination, corrosion, or poor adjustment.
- Check for recent switch or module replacement and verify the parts and software are compatible.
- Have a technician test the switch signal and network data path to the receiving module.
Common fixes
- Clean or adjust the door switch G contact or latch if it sticks or is misaligned.
- Repair damaged wiring or corroded connectors at door switch G.
- Replace a faulty door switch G or associated latch assembly if testing confirms failure.
- Correct module configuration or software compatibility after replacement.
- Repair network routing or replace a faulty module if testing isolates that cause.
Can I keep driving?
Driving is generally unaffected if the door latches securely, but the vehicle may misreport that door's open state or leave interior lights on. Check that all doors are fully latched before setting off.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
