OBD-II fault code

P25CC: Intake Camshaft Actuator Park Lock Control Circuit High Bank 1

What it means

The intake camshaft actuator park-lock circuit on bank 1 is above the expected electrical threshold. This indicates a high circuit condition; the code alone does not identify its cause.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

The intake camshaft actuator park-lock circuit on bank 1 operates the solenoid that holds the intake phaser in its parked position when required. P25CC means the control module detected a circuit level above its expected threshold; it identifies a high condition, not whether a short to power, driver fault, or connector problem caused it.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Control wire shorted to a B+ supply
  2. ECU output driver stuck on
  3. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Power loss especially in mid-rpm range
  • Possible rough idle or stalling
  • Increased fuel consumption

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and related actuator codes, including when the bank 1 intake circuit was reported high.
  2. Inspect the bank 1 intake park-lock connector and harness for a wire contacting a power feed, damaged insulation, corrosion, or loose terminals.
  3. Check the connector terminals and circuit supply and control behavior against the manufacturer's wiring information and specifications.
  4. With the circuit isolated as directed by service information, test the control wire for a short to battery voltage and check the solenoid circuit for damage.
  5. If the wiring and solenoid test correctly, use supported scan-tool data or tests to evaluate whether the control-module output is stuck active.

Common fixes

  • Repair damaged insulation or wiring that lets the bank 1 intake control circuit contact a power feed.
  • Clean, secure, or repair faulty terminals at the park-lock solenoid connector.
  • Replace the solenoid if it fails the manufacturer's electrical test.
  • Repair the control-module output only after confirming the wiring and solenoid are sound.

Can I keep driving?

If the engine runs normally, drive gently only as needed to arrange diagnosis and avoid hard acceleration. Stop in a safe place if it stalls, runs roughly, or loses power, as those symptoms can make continued driving unpredictable.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
