What it means
The control module detects a signal below the expected range in the turbocharger or supercharger inlet pressure sensor B circuit.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
How it works
Turbocharger inlet pressure sensor B measures pressure at the forced-induction system's inlet and sends a signal to the control module. P2376 sets when that signal falls below the expected electrical range, often because the signal wire is grounded or the connection has excessive resistance.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal shorted to ground
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
- Harness chafing through insulation
Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Significant power loss / limp mode
- Possible blue or black smoke from exhaust
- Whistling or hissing sound from intake
How to diagnose it
- Review freeze-frame and live data to confirm sensor B's signal is low and note whether other intake-pressure readings are also affected.
- Inspect sensor B's connector and harness for chafing, moisture, corrosion, loose pins, or a wire contacting ground.
- With the wiring diagram and manufacturer's procedure, check sensor B's signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Check sensor B's supply and ground connections and verify terminal contact, since a poor connection can also pull the signal low.
- If wiring and connections are sound, test sensor B and its pressure port to the manufacturer's procedure.
Common fixes
- Repair chafed sensor B wiring that is shorted to ground.
- Clean and secure corroded or loose connector terminals.
- Restore a faulty sensor supply or ground connection.
- Replace sensor B if it fails testing after the circuit and pressure path are verified.
Can I keep driving?
If power is significantly reduced or smoke or an intake hiss is present, avoid heavy loads and stop if the engine runs poorly. Have the fault checked soon, since the module may limit engine output when sensor B's signal is unreliable.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
