What it means
The monitored voltage for hybrid/EV battery E is below the expected range. The module sets this code when voltage remains below its calibrated threshold during monitoring.
How it works
The battery management system measures pack E voltage to monitor the condition of that hybrid or EV battery section. P0ECE sets when the reading remains below its calibrated range, which can indicate a weak section, a poor high-voltage connection, or a faulty voltage-sensing path.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Weak or deteriorated battery section
- Poor high-voltage connection
- Faulty voltage sensor or wiring
- Battery management system fault
Symptoms
- Hybrid or EV warning light
- Reduced power
- Charging may be limited
- Reduced electric range
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and compare pack E voltage with neighboring battery readings and the charging or load conditions at the time.
- Inspect accessible external battery and sensing-harness connectors for looseness or corrosion, without opening the high-voltage pack.
- Check the sensing harness for visible damage or chafing that could make pack E appear lower than it is.
- Test the pack E voltage signal and sensing circuit against the manufacturer's procedure and specifications.
- If sensing checks pass, have the battery section and high-voltage connection assessed using the specified safety procedure.
Common fixes
- Secure or clean an accessible loose sensing connection.
- Repair damaged pack E voltage-sensing wiring.
- Replace a failed sensor or sensing-circuit component confirmed by testing.
- Repair or replace a weak battery section or poor high-voltage connection if diagnosis confirms it.
Can I keep driving?
Drive gently and avoid demanding acceleration or long trips because reduced power, charging limits, and shorter electric range may result. If the vehicle will not enter READY or shows a hybrid or EV warning with reduced power, stop safely and follow its instructions.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
