OBD-II fault code

P0EC6: A/C Power Supply Relay Control Circuit/Open

What it means

The control circuit for the A/C power supply relay is open or lacks expected electrical continuity. The module sets this code when it detects that open condition while monitoring relay control.

How it works

The A/C power supply relay switches electrical power to the A/C system when commanded by the control module. This code sets when the relay control circuit is open or lacks the expected continuity, so the relay may not be able to supply power.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Open or damaged relay wiring
  2. Failed A/C power supply relay
  3. Loose or corroded connector
  4. Blown fuse

Symptoms

  • A/C may not operate
  • A/C warning light
  • Hybrid or EV warning light

How to diagnose it

  1. Save freeze-frame data and check for related A/C power, relay, or hybrid/EV fault codes.
  2. Inspect the A/C power supply relay, its connector, and the control-circuit wiring for looseness, corrosion, or damage.
  3. Check the specified fuse and verify it is intact; replace a blown fuse only after checking for a short or overload cause.
  4. Test relay-control-circuit continuity and relay operation according to the manufacturer's wiring information and procedure.
  5. If the wiring and fuse are sound, test the A/C power supply relay and replace it if it fails.

Common fixes

  • Replace a failed fuse after checking why it opened.
  • Reconnect the relay or repair loose or corroded connector terminals.
  • Repair an open or damaged relay-control wire.
  • Replace the A/C power supply relay if it fails the specified test.

Can I keep driving?

The A/C may not operate, which can reduce cooling or demisting, but this code alone generally does not prevent driving. Follow any hybrid or EV warnings and do not drive if visibility cannot be maintained.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
