What it means
The hybrid electronics coolant pump A reports a enable circuit condition. Power electronics cooling may be impaired.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Electronics coolant pump A circulates coolant through the hybrid or EV power electronics loop when its enable circuit allows operation. P0CED sets when the pump enable circuit has a fault, such as an open enable wire or a failed enable switch, so pump operation may not be allowed when requested.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Open in enable wire
- Enable switch failed
Symptoms
- Hybrid or EV system warning light on
- Reduced power or limited vehicle operation
- Cooling-system warning may appear
How to diagnose it
- Check freeze-frame data and scan-tool pump A command and enable status to see whether the fault occurs when the pump should be enabled.
- With the vehicle powered down under the manufacturer's high-voltage safety procedure, inspect the enable circuit connector and harness for loose connections or visible damage.
- Check the enable wire for an open circuit, using the manufacturer's wiring diagram to identify the correct circuit path.
- Test the enable switch for the required switching behavior according to the manufacturer's procedure.
- If the enable wire and switch pass, verify that the control module's enable command reaches pump A using the manufacturer's specified checks.
Common fixes
- Reconnect or secure a loose connection in the pump A enable circuit.
- Repair an open enable wire.
- Replace a failed pump enable switch.
- Repair the control-side fault identified by circuit testing.
Can I keep driving?
Avoid high loads and stop driving if a cooling warning or reduced power appears, since pump A may not be enabled to cool the power electronics. Arrange prompt diagnosis if the vehicle limits operation.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
