What it means
The power supply circuit of drive motor A inverter reports a circuit/open condition. Inverter operation may be impaired.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Drive motor A's inverter needs a supply circuit to power its control and switching functions. The control module monitors that supply path and sets this code when it detects an open or interrupted circuit, such as a broken wire or disconnected terminal.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Open in supply wire
- Supply fuse blown
- Pin pushed back out of connector body
Symptoms
- EV/hybrid system warning light on
- Reduced motor power or torque
- Possible limp mode or vehicle shutdown
How to diagnose it
- Read freeze-frame data and related hybrid or EV codes to see when the inverter supply fault occurred and whether other power faults are present.
- With the vehicle powered down as specified by the manufacturer, inspect drive motor A inverter supply wiring and connectors for disconnection or damage.
- Check the supply connector for a pushed-back pin or a terminal that is not seated securely.
- Check the applicable supply fuse for an open element and verify the correct fuse circuit using vehicle information.
- Test continuity through the supply circuit and verify the inverter receives the specified supply according to the manufacturer's procedure.
Common fixes
- Reseat a loose inverter supply connector or terminal.
- Replace the blown supply fuse after checking for the cause of the open circuit.
- Repair a broken or disconnected supply wire.
- Repair the confirmed inverter supply fault.
Can I keep driving?
If the vehicle has reduced drive power or enters limp mode, avoid trips that depend on reliable acceleration and arrange prompt diagnosis. It may shut down or lose motor assistance.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
