OBD-II fault code

P00F7: Barometric Pressure - Turbocharger/Supercharger Inlet Pressure Correlation Bank 2

What it means

The barometric pressure and turbocharger/supercharger inlet pressure readings for bank 2 do not correlate as expected.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test

How it works

The barometric pressure sensor reports atmospheric pressure, while the turbocharger or supercharger inlet pressure sensor reports pressure at the intake before the compressor. The control module compares these readings for bank 2 and sets this code when they do not agree as expected, which can point to a faulty sensor or its wiring.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Turbocharger/supercharger inlet pressure sensor fault
  2. Barometric pressure sensor fault
  3. Wiring or connector fault

Symptoms

  • Check engine light on

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and compare the bank 2 inlet-pressure and barometric-pressure readings with the engine off, when the readings should be broadly consistent.
  2. Identify the bank 2 inlet-pressure sensor from vehicle service information and inspect its connector and wiring alongside the barometric-pressure sensor circuit.
  3. Check for loose, corroded, damaged, or poorly seated terminals on both sensor circuits.
  4. Use the wiring diagram to check the sensors' supplies, grounds, and signal circuits against the manufacturer's specification.
  5. If both circuits test correctly, compare each sensor's response to changing pressure using the manufacturer's test procedure to identify the inaccurate sensor.

Common fixes

  • Reconnect a loose connector or repair damaged wiring at the bank 2 inlet-pressure or barometric-pressure sensor.
  • Clean or repair corroded terminals and restore reliable electrical contact.
  • Replace the bank 2 turbocharger or supercharger inlet-pressure sensor if its reading fails testing.
  • Replace the barometric-pressure sensor if it is the reading that fails testing.

Can I keep driving?

The listed symptom is the check-engine light, and the code alone does not establish that the vehicle is unsafe to drive. If power or boost behavior changes, avoid hard acceleration and have the fault checked soon because incorrect pressure data can affect engine control and emissions.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
