What it means
The intake air pressure readings for bank 2 do not correlate as expected. The code does not identify which sensor, if any, is faulty.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
How it works
The intake air pressure measurement system uses multiple pressure readings to monitor conditions on bank 2. P00E6 sets when those bank 2 readings do not correlate as expected; it does not by itself identify a bad sensor, wiring fault, or intake leak.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- One intake air pressure sensor reading incorrectly
- Damaged wiring or poor connector contact at a pressure sensor
- Intake leak or pressure disturbance affecting readings
Symptoms
- Check-engine light on
- Reduced engine performance or power
- Poor fuel economy
How to diagnose it
- Review freeze-frame and live pressure data for the bank 2 sensors and compare their readings under the same operating conditions.
- Inspect the bank 2 pressure sensors, their connectors, and nearby wiring for damage, loose contact, or contamination.
- Check the bank 2 intake tract and pressure connections for leaks or restrictions that could make sensor readings disagree.
- Test each relevant bank 2 sensor circuit for opens, shorts, and poor connector contact using the vehicle wiring information.
- If wiring and intake connections pass inspection, compare the sensors’ readings and test them against the manufacturer’s specification.
Common fixes
- Repair an intake leak or damaged pressure connection affecting bank 2 readings.
- Clean or repair poor connector contact or damaged wiring at the affected bank 2 pressure sensor.
- Secure a loose pressure sensor or connection if it is disturbing the reading.
- Replace the pressure sensor that fails testing after the bank 2 readings and circuits have been checked.
Can I keep driving?
A short drive may be possible if the engine runs smoothly, but reduced power or fuel economy can result from inaccurate bank 2 pressure data. Avoid hard acceleration or heavy loads if performance is reduced, and stop if the engine develops severe running problems.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
