What it means
Multiple intake air pressure sensors on bank 1 disagree with each other beyond the plausible deviation. One has drifted.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
How it works
The intake air pressure measurement system uses multiple pressure readings associated with bank 1 to help the control module assess air entering the engine. P00C7 sets when those sensor readings disagree beyond the plausible range, suggesting a drifting sensor, circuit problem or pressure-path issue.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- One intake air pressure sensor reading inaccurately
- Loose, corroded, or damaged sensor connector
- Open or shorted sensor wiring
- Intake leak or pressure passage obstruction
Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Rough idle or hesitation
- Reduced power
- Starting may be difficult
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and compare the bank 1 pressure sensors at key-on and during idle and load; readings should change plausibly together.
- Inspect each bank 1 intake-pressure sensor and its pressure passage for a loose mount, contamination, blockage or damage.
- Check the bank 1 sensor connectors and wiring for corrosion, loose pins, chafing or an open or short.
- Look for intake leaks or obstructed pressure passages that could make the bank 1 sensors see different conditions.
- Compare each sensor signal with the manufacturer's specification and test the suspect sensor circuit before replacing parts.
Common fixes
- Reconnect a loose bank 1 pressure-sensor connector or secure a loose sensor mount.
- Clean an obstructed pressure passage using the manufacturer's procedure.
- Repair a confirmed intake leak affecting the bank 1 pressure readings.
- Repair damaged wiring or replace a corroded connector.
- Replace the bank 1 pressure sensor confirmed to be drifting or inaccurate.
Can I keep driving?
A short, cautious drive may be possible if the engine runs smoothly, but reduced power, hesitation or difficult starting can make driving unpredictable. Avoid hard acceleration and address the fault soon because inaccurate pressure readings can affect engine control and emissions.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
