What it means
Supply voltage to boost control actuator A above expected range. Same as P005F but on actuator A. Boost control tracks commanded vs. actual manifold pressure; persistent deviation means wastegate, vanes, hose or actuator are not delivering the requested pressure.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Boost control actuator A helps regulate turbocharger or supercharger boost, and the control module monitors its supply voltage. P006F sets when that voltage is higher than expected, which can happen with a regulator fault, a pinched wire contacting battery positive, or a connector problem.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Alternator regulator failed
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
- Supply wire pinched against B+ source
Symptoms
- Charge status indicator shows fault
- Charging may not start or interrupts
- Slower-than-expected charge rate
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and check for related charging system or boost actuator codes.
- Inspect actuator A's supply wiring for pinching, chafing, or contact with a battery-positive feed.
- Check the actuator A connector for corrosion, bent pins, loose terminals, or signs of overheating.
- Measure the charging system and actuator A supply voltage under the conditions described by freeze-frame data, comparing results with the manufacturer's specification.
- If charging voltage is normal, test actuator A's supply and control circuits for shorts or wiring faults.
Common fixes
- Repair a supply wire pinched against a battery-positive source.
- Clean and secure damaged or corroded actuator A connector terminals.
- Repair a short or damaged section in the actuator A supply harness.
- Repair or replace the charging system regulator if testing confirms overvoltage.
- Replace actuator A only if it fails the manufacturer's checks.
Can I keep driving?
Avoid high loads and hard acceleration until the voltage fault is resolved, as actuator operation may be impaired. If other electrical warnings appear or the engine loses power, stop safely and have the vehicle checked.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
