Steep ascent
Warning signs

Steep ascent

A steep uphill section is ahead; watch for slow-moving traffic.

Choose a suitable gear for the climb and leave room for slower vehicles. The warning is normally placed before the uphill section.

A common triangular design shows a black slope rising from left to right, often alongside a percentage. Poland’s T-9 is a supplementary plate giving the actual gradient.

How it looks in each country

Official sign in each country; the code is its number in the national rules. Signs that come in two directions show the left and the right version.
