Warning signs

Children

Children may cross, walk or play near the road ahead.

Take extra care near schools, playgrounds and other places where children gather. Be ready to stop if a child enters the road unexpectedly.

The United Kingdom's 545 shows two children in a red-bordered triangle with a white background. The United States S1-1 is a fluorescent yellow-green pentagon showing two walking figures. Australia's W6-3 uses a diamond-shaped children symbol sign, including fluorescent yellow-green versions.

How it looks in each country

Official sign in each country; the code is its number in the national rules. Signs that come in two directions show the left and the right version.
