Driver seat belt pretensioner may fail
The driver's seat belt pretensioner cable may fail from fatigue and not restrain the driver correctly in a collision. The pretensioner will be replaced with a redesigned one.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- SEAT BELT MAY NOT PERFORM CORRECTLY
- Defect
- There is a possibility that the drivers seat belt pretensioner cable may fail through fatigue and therefore not restrain the driver correctly during a collision.
- Remedy
- Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the pretensioner with one that is redesigned.
Engine speed may differ from the driver's request
A faulty contact between the accelerator pedal sensor and injection computer may cause the SERV warning light to illuminate. The situation can be controlled by applying the brake pedal. The injection computer will be reprogrammed preventively.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- ACTUAL ENGINE SPEED CAN DIFFER FROM SPEED REQUESTED BY THE DRIVER
- Defect
- In certain cases the risk exists that there may be a faulty contact between the accelerator pedal sensor and the injection computer. In such cases the SERV warning light will illuminate on the dashboard. The situation remains under control by simply by applying the brake pedal.
- Remedy
- Recalled vehicles will undergo preventive reprogramming of the injection computer
Engine may accelerate unexpectedly
The engine may accelerate by itself intermittently or have an unstable idle speed. The fuel injection computer software will be reprogrammed.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- POSSIBLE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION
- Defect
- The engine may intermittently accelerate by itself and/or suffer instability of the idle speed.
- Remedy
- Reprogramme the fuel injection computer software.
Engine may accelerate unexpectedly
The engine may intermittently accelerate by itself or have unstable idle speed. The fuel injection computer software will be reprogrammed.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- POSSIBLE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION
- Defect
- The engine may intermittently accelerate by itself and/or suffer instability of the idle speed.
- Remedy
- Reprogramme the fuel injection computer software.
Brake servo may fail
The brake servo may fail, causing a hard brake pedal due to loss of power assistance. The brake servo unit will be replaced.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- BRAKE SERVO MAY FAIL
- Defect
- Brake servo may fail resulting in a hard brake pedal due to the loss of power assistance.
- Remedy
- Replace the brake servo unit.
Engine speed may surge after a cold start
Engine speed may surge intermittently after a cold start when the outside temperature is between 0 degrees centigrade and plus 5 degrees centigrade. The fuel injection computer will be reprogrammed.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- VEHICLE SURGE
- Defect
- The engine speed may surge intermittently when first started from cold when the outside temperature is between 0 degrees centigrade and plus 5 degrees centigrade.
- Remedy
- Reprogramme the fuel injection computer.
Engine may stall at idle with air conditioning on
The engine may cut out and stall at idle or when lifting off the accelerator with the air conditioning on. The injection computer will be recalibrated.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- ENGINE MAY CUT OUT
- Defect
- Laguna II's fitted with the 1.6 16v engine may cut out and stall at idle/lift off when the air conditioning is switched on.
- Remedy
- Rectified by recalibrating the injection computer.
Diesel fuel pipes may leak and damage brake assist connector
Diesel injection pipes may leak and damage the emergency brake assist connector at the brake booster. The high-pressure fuel rail and pipes, and the connector seal, will be replaced.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- FUEL LEAK / EMERGENCY BRAKE ASSIST CONCERN.
- Defect
- Danger of leakage from the Diesel injection high pressure pipes which can result in destruction of the Emergency Brake Assist connector located on the Brake Booster.
- Remedy
- Replace diesel fuel injection high pressure rail and pipes and Emergency Brake Assist connector seal at Brake Booster Unit.
Accelerator may stick or diesel engine may stall
The accelerator pedal may stick open, or a diesel engine may stall at idle or after hard acceleration. The accelerator base pad will be repositioned and, on diesel models, the fuel pump pressure regulator valve will be replaced.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- ENGINE SPEED CONTROL CONCERNS
- Defect
- 1) Accelerator pedal may stick in the open position. (Petrol and diesel engine models). 2) Engine may stall at idle or after hard acceleration. (Diesel engine models).
- Remedy
- 1) Reposition pad at base of accelerator. 2) Repalce the pressure regulator valve on the diesel fuel pump.
