Airbag inflator may rupture
An inflator with degraded propellant may rupture when activated. The inflator or airbag module will be replaced with a unit that does not use ammonium nitrate.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- ACTIVATION OF A NON-DESSICATED AMMONIUM NITRATE INFLATOR WITH DEGRADED PROPELLANT MAY RESULT IN AN INFLATOR RUPTURE
- Defect
- Activation of a non-desiccated ammonium nitrate inflator with degraded propellant may result in an inflator rupture.
- Remedy
- Replace the airbag inflator (LANCER) or the airbag module (i) with a new non-AN (ammonium nitrate) based unit.
Passenger airbag inflator may release metal fragments
A defect in the passenger airbag inflator may cause it to release metal fragments when activated, which can injure passengers. The product is recalled from end users.
Official EU Safety Gate text
- Component
- Injuries
- Defect
- There is a defect in the inflator of the passenger side airbag. Metal fragments may be released when the airbag is activated, which can cause injury to passengers.
- Remedy
- Recall of the product from end users
- Notes
- Notified by United Kingdom
Indicators or other lights may switch off or blink
Poor connectivity may cause the indicators or other vehicle lights to switch off or blink. Lubricant will be applied to the switch connections.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- INDICATORS AND/OR OTHER VEHICLE LIGHTS MAY SWITCH OFF OR BLINK WITHOUT WARNING
- Defect
- Due to poor connectivity the indicators and/or vehicle lights may turn off or blink
- Remedy
- On affected vehicles apply lubricant to switch connections
Passenger airbag inflator may release shrapnel
The passenger airbag inflator may release shrapnel when the airbag deploys, which could injure the passenger. The remedy is to replace the airbag modules.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- AIRBAG MAY RELEASE SHRAPNEL IF DEPLOYED
- Defect
- Certain passenger side airbags the inflator might release shrapnel from the inflator container during deployment which could injure the passenger.
- Remedy
- On affected vehicles replace air bag modules
Transmission fault may prevent reverse gear selection
A defective component in the transmission valve block may prevent correct gear selection and, in the worst case, prevent reverse gear selection. The valve block will be inspected and the valve body installation kit or valve body assembly replaced depending on the result.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- REVERSE GEAR MAY NOT FUNCTION
- Defect
- On affected vehicles a component within the transmission valve block may be defective. If the component fails the gear box may not select gears correctly. In the worst case scenario the driver may not be able to select reverse gear.
- Remedy
- On affected vehicles inspect the gearbox valve block. Depending on inspection outcome replace valve body installation kit or valve body assembly.
Engine may overheat and stall
The cooling system condenser tank may not separate air properly at high engine speeds, allowing coolant to overflow. Continued driving with insufficient coolant could cause the engine to overheat, seize or stall. The tank will be checked and replaced if needed, and the coolant refilled and system bled.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- ENGINE COULD OVERHEAT AND STALL
- Defect
- On Petrol versions (HA1W) the air bubble separation function of the condenser tank for the engine cooling system may not function properly when the engine is running at high RPM. This could result in coolant overflowing from the condenser tank. If the coolant overflows repeatedly and use of the vehicle continues without sufficient coolant engine overheating could occur. In the worst case the engine could stall/heat seize and cannot be restarted
- Remedy
- Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to check and where necessary replace the condenser tank refill the coolant and bleed the system.
Transmission may not engage park
Rust may prevent the transmission from reaching park, making the vehicle difficult to start or allowing it to move if the parking brake is not applied. The affected parts will be cleaned and fitted with a protective cover.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- VEHICLE MAY NOT BE IN THE INTENDED GEAR
- Defect
- It has been identified that due to the formation of rust between the manual control shaft and the gear inhibitor switch the transmission may not move to the park position even though this may have been selected. As a result it may be impossible to start the vehicle additionally the vehicle may move unexpectedly whilst in park if the parking brake has not been applied.
- Remedy
- Recalled vehicles will have the relevant components cleaned and fitted with a protective cover.
