What is the Merkur Scorpio?

The Scorpio was a large five-door hatchback from Ford of Europe, sold in the United States under the Merkur name. Its roomy cabin and liftback shape gave it a practical character, while its place in the range made it the larger, more spacious Merkur model.

The Merkur badge identified selected European-developed Fords sold through Lincoln-Mercury dealers. In the UK and Ireland, the related European model was known as the Ford Granada; elsewhere in Europe it was called the Ford Scorpio.
