If damage is present to the seat lifter link replace seat frame. If damage is restricted to stabilizer bar then the bar will be repaired plus brackets and push nuts fitted.
Airbag inflator may rupture
A propellant defect could cause the inflator to ignite abnormally and its casing to break during deployment. The airbags may not protect occupants adequately, and casing fragments could injure them. The front driver and passenger inflators will be replaced with modified units.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- AIRBAG MAY MALFUNCTION
- Defect
- It has been identified that the density of the propellant within the airbag inflator may be insufficient due to inappropriate production and storage conditions of the propellant. In this condition the inflator may abnormally ignite at the time of the airbag deployment allowing the inner pressure of the inflator to increase abnormally resulting in the breakage of the inflator case. In this condition the airbags will not provide adequate protection during a frontal impact as the broken pieces of the inflator case could injure the driver and/or front seat passenger.
- Remedy
- Recall all affected vehicles to replace the driver and passenger front airbag inflators with modified units.
Turn signals may not cancel when steering
The turn signals may keep flashing after the steering wheel is turned, which can confuse other drivers and increase crash risk. Dealers will replace the combination switch, free of charge.

- Defect
- MAZDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 MAZDA6 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM APRIL 8, 2008, THROUGH FEBRUARY 8, 2010. A CERTAIN TYPE OF SPIDER MAY WEAVE A WEB IN THE EVAPORATIVE CANISTER VENT LINE AND THIS MAY CAUSE A RESTRICTION IN THE LINE. IF THIS OCCURS, THE FUEL TANK PRESSURE MAY BECOME EXCESSIVELY NEGATIVE WHEN THE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM WORKS TO PURGE THE VAPORS FROM THE CANISTER.

Fuel tank may leak
Insufficient clearance between the fuel tank insulator and exhaust pipe may cause the tank to heat up and lose rigidity. If the tank overheats, it may partially melt and leak fuel. An insulator kit will be fitted between the exhaust and fuel tank.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- FUEL LEAKAGE FROM THE FUEL TANK
- Defect
- It has been found that the clearance between the fuel tank insulator and the exhaust pipe is insufficient. During driving this may give rise to an increase in temperature around the fuel tank which may suffer reduced rigidity. At the same time the inner pressure of the fuel tank may increase causing the fuel tank and exhaust insulator to make contact. Should the surface temperature of the fuel tank exceed it's maximum permissible range partial melting may occur which could result in a fuel leak.
- Remedy
- Recall affected vehicles and fit an insulator kit between the exhaust and the fuel tank.
Injector oil seal may detach
The injector oil seal may detach, causing heavy oil consumption and, if the oil pressure warning is ignored, engine seizure. The cylinder head cover will be replaced with a modified one.

Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- EXTERIOR LIGHTING:FOG LIGHTS
- Defect
- ON CERTAIN MINI VANS AND PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE SOCKET HOLDER IN THE FOG LIGHTS IS INSTALLED IN THE LAMP CASING USING PRESSURE. DURING OPERATION OF THE FOG LIGHT, THE HEAT FROM THE BULB CAN EXPAND THE SOCKET HOLDER. THE EXPANSION CAN FORCE THE SOCKET HOLDER REARWARD. AFTER REPEATEDLY BEING SUBJECT TO THIS EXPANSION, IF THE FOG LIGHT IS ALSO SUBJECTED TO VIBRATION DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, THE SOCKET HOLDER WITH THE BULB HOLDER AND THE WIRING HARNESS MAY SEPARATE FROM THE FOG LIGHT CASING.
- Consequence
- SHOULD THIS OCCUR, THE BULB SOCKET AND THE HARNESS CAN DROP INSIDE THE BUMPER AND POSSIBLY BUT RARELY, THE HEAT GENERATED BY THE BULB CAN CAUSE THE BUMPER TO BURN.
- Remedy
- DEALERS WILL INSTALL A SPRING TO PREVENT THE SOCKET HOLDER FROM SEPARATING FROM THE LAMP CASE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON JULY 14, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT MAZDA AT 1-800-222-5500.
