What is the Deepal S05?

The Deepal S05 is a compact all-electric SUV from Deepal, Changan’s electric-vehicle brand. Its raised driving position and practical SUV shape make it a natural fit for everyday journeys. It sits within a growing Deepal line-up alongside models such as the S07.

Changan unveiled the S05 during its European brand launch, then announced its European market launch in 2025. The car was designed at Changan’s European design centre in Turin and developed for local roads with input from the company’s UK engineering centre.

Generations and engines

The first generation began in 2025 and remains current. The S05 is listed as electric in the EU registration figures, with two recorded power outputs: 200 kW (272 PS) and 127 kW (173 PS).

Both versions use electric drive, which delivers power without the gear changes of a conventional multi-speed automatic.

How economical is the Deepal S05?

The S05 is an electric car, so its energy use is measured in electricity rather than litres of fuel. The EU registration figures show that the 200 kW (272 PS) version accounted for 312 of the model’s 324 registrations in 2025. The 127 kW (173 PS) version accounted for the other 12.

European efficiency tests use WLTP, while some older vehicles were tested under NEDC. US EPA and Canadian five-cycle results use different procedures, so results across these markets are not directly comparable.

Where was the Deepal S05 sold?

The S05 appears in the European Union’s 2025 registration figures. Changan showcased it during the European introduction of its Changan, Deepal and Avatr brands, then announced the S05’s European market launch in 2025.
