Driver airbag inflator may rupture
The airbag inflator may deteriorate and rupture with excessive force in a crash, potentially causing serious injury or death. The driver airbag module will be replaced. Do not drive the vehicle.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- Citroen C4 Citroen DS5 Driver Airbag (Takata)
- Defect
- On affected vehicles the Takata airbag inflators may deteriorate over time. This may cause some inflators to rupture with too much force in a crash capable of causing serious injury or death in a worst-case scenario.
- Remedy
- Replace Driver Airbag module. You are advised not to drive the vehicle.
Front airbag igniters may not deploy correctly
Front airbag igniters may not deploy correctly. Check the affected front airbags and replace them if necessary.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- FRONT AIR BAG IGNITERS MAY NOT DEPLOY CORRECTLY
- Defect
- Front air bag igniters may not deploy correctly.
- Remedy
- Check and if necessary replace the affected front airbags.
Engine software calibration may cause excess NOx emissions
Engine management software calibration could cause NOx emissions to exceed regulatory limits. The engine management software will be updated.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- DUE TO THE CALIBRATION OF THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE NOX EMISSIONS MAY NOT COMPLY WITH REGULATORY LIMITS
- Defect
- The calibration of the engine management software could result in emissions of NOx which do not comply with the regulatory limits.
- Remedy
- Download new engine management software
Engine oil gallery plug may leak
An incorrectly tightened oil gallery sealing plug may leak oil over time, possibly onto the road. The plug will be tightened to the correct torque.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- Engine oil gallery sealing plug incorrectly tightened
- Defect
- On the affected vehicles the tightening of a sealing plug on the engine oil gallery may not be correct to specification. This could lead over time to an oil leak which in rare cases could result in oil leaking on to the road.
- Remedy
- The remedy consists of tightening the engine oil gallery sealing plug to the correct torque.
Engine may overheat
The engine cooling control strategy and temperature alert threshold could allow the engine to overheat, triggering a warning light and message. Engine management software will be updated to improve temperature control.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- ENGINE MAY OVERHEAT
- Defect
- The engine electronic cooling management control strategy and the maximum temperature alert threshold could cause the engine to overheat. This could result in a warning light and a message being displayed on the instrument panel.
- Remedy
- On affected vehicles download a new engine management software in order to modify the cooling management parameters to improve the control of the engine operating temperature.
Engine component may cause loss of performance
An engine component may be out of specification, causing loss of performance or stalling and potentially engine failure. In very unlikely circumstances, speed may increase briefly without warning. The engine will be checked and replaced if necessary.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- ENGINE COMPONENT MAY NOT BE TO SPECIFICATION
- Defect
- An engine component may not be to specification which could result in loss of engine performance. This may lead to the engine stalling and potentially causing an engine failure. In very unlikely circumstances the vehicle speed may increase without warning but will stop on its own after a few seconds.
- Remedy
- On affected vehicles carry out a functional diagnostic check of the engine. If necessary replace the engine.
Starter supply terminal may short circuit
The starter motor supply terminal may touch a nearby component and cause a short circuit. The terminal will be checked and repositioned if needed; damaged components will be replaced if necessary.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- STARTER SUPPLY WIRE MAY CHAFE
- Defect
- The positioning of the starter motor supply terminal may not conform to specification. Contact with a neighbouring component could cause a short circuit.
- Remedy
- On affected vehicles check the position of the terminal and where necessary reposition. Replace damaged components if necessary.
Gearbox actuator may affect gear selection
A gearbox actuator component may be out of specification and affect gear selection. The actuator will be replaced.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- GEARBOX ACTUATOR AY NOT BE TO SPECTIFICATION
- Defect
- A component in the gearbox actuator may not be to the correct specification which may affect gear selection.
- Remedy
- On affected vehicles replace the gearbox actuator
Loose suspension or brake parts may affect control
Suspension or brake components may not have been tightened correctly and could become insecure. Noise and steering play may increase, and directional control or braking could be affected. The affected components will be tightened to specification.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- DIRECTIONAL CONTROL MAY BE AFFECTED
- Defect
- It is possible that some suspension and brake components were not tightened correctly when building the car. It is possible for the components to become insecure and develop increase in noise from the suspension and increase of free play in steering. If not corrected the directional control and brakes could be affected.
- Remedy
- Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and tighten the affected components to the required specifiaction: rear suspension fixings on the body brake calipers on their supports front subframe fixings on the body front hub carrier fixings on the subframe and on the shock absorbers brake hoses on the calipers and fixings of the underbody deflectors.
Fuel heater cover may distort and leak
A defective fuel filter heater may distort its cover, allowing air in and fuel out. This could cause poor starting and illuminate a warning light. The cover will be replaced and the connector checked and replaced if needed.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- FUEL MAY LEAK
- Defect
- The fuel filter's integrated heater may be defective and could cause the cover to distort. This could cause air ingress and fuel egress. Either could cause poor starting and a warning light should illuminate
- Remedy
- On affected vehicles replace fuel heater cover. Check and if necessary replace connector.
Body spot welds may be missing
Specific body spot welds may be missing. This could cause body noises or squeaking over time, and a vehicle without the required welds cannot be repaired. It will be removed from the road and a replacement vehicle provided.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- SPOT WELDS MAY NOT HOLD
- Defect
- On a very limited number of vehicles it is necessary to check the presence of specific spot welds on the vehicle body shell. Should it be identified that one of the welds has been missed in production the vehicle cannot be repaired. In the long term and in very rare cases body noises and squeaking could appear.
- Remedy
- In the rare case that the vehicle does not comply the vehicle will be removed from the road and the customer will be provided with a replacement vehicle.
