Pedestrian mascot may not retract when struck
Corrosion may prevent the Flying B mascot from retracting correctly when struck. In a collision with a pedestrian, this could cause additional injuries. The mascot mechanism will be replaced with a later version.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- POTENTIAL OF PEDESTRIAN INJURY
- Defect
- It is possible due to a build up of corrosion that the Flying B mascot may not retract correctly when struck. If the vehicle is involved in a collison with a pedestrian and the mascot does not retract correctly the pedestrian may suffer addiional injuries.
- Remedy
- Recall the affected vehicles for the mascot mechanism to be replaced with a later version.
Hood ornament may not retract in a crash
Corrosion may prevent the hood ornament’s retracting mechanism from working in a crash, increasing the risk of pedestrian injury. Dealers will replace the retracting mechanism free of charge.
Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD
- Defect
- BENTLEY IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007-2009 ARNAGER, ARNAGET, ARNAGE RL, BROOKLANDS, AND AZURE VEHICLES. THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR THE "B" HOOD ORNAMENT'S RETRACTING MECHANISM TO BECOME CORRODED. THIS MAY LEAD TO THE "B" HOOD ORNAMENT NOT RETRACTING AS INTENDED WHEN A VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A CRASH.
- Consequence
- IF THE HOOD ORNAMENT DOES NOT RETRACT, IT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO A PEDESTRIAN IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH BETWEEN THE VEHICLE AND THE PEDESTRIAN.
- Remedy
- DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE RETRACTABLE "B" MECHANISM FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BENTLEY AT 1-617-488-8500.

Wheel bolts may loosen and allow a wheel to detach
Incorrectly sized wheel retaining bolts may loosen, allowing a wheel to detach. The bolts will be replaced with ones made to the correct specification.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- ROAD WHEEL MAY BECOME DETACHED
- Defect
- It has been identified that affected vehicles have been fitted with wheel retaining bolts which do not conform to the dimensional specification. This can result in the wheel bolts becoming loose with the possibility that a wheel might detach.
- Remedy
- Affected vehicles will be fitted with wheel bolts manufactured to the correct dimensional specification.
Fuel vapour may collect inside body cavity
Fuel vapour from the emissions system could enter a cavity behind the driver-side rocker panel. If it collects there, activating the central window mechanism could ignite the mixture. Dealers will fit an extension pipe to vent vapour outside the vehicle.
Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL
- Defect
- VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. FUEL VAPORS STORED IN THE VEHICLE'S EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM COULD ENTER A BODY CAVITY BEHIND THE ROCKER PANEL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE.
- Consequence
- IF VAPOR IS EMITTED AND COLLECTS IN THE CAVITY, THE RESULTING AIR/VAPOR MIXTURE COULD BE IGNITED IF THE CENTRAL WINDOW OPERATING MECHANISM IS ACTIVATED.
- Remedy
- DEALERS WILL INSTALL A PLATED MILD STEEL EXTENSION PIPE TO THE LEAK DETECTION FILTER OF THE VEHICLE WHICH WILL ENSURE THAT ANY VAPOR EMANATING FROM THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM IS VENTED TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN APRIL 16, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT ROLLS-ROYCE AT 1-800-777-6923.

Battery cable insulation may be damaged
The main battery cable may rub against a body panel and damage its insulation. Contact with the exposed wire could cause a short circuit, loss of electrical supply or fire. Dealers will reposition the cable and replace any damaged cable.
Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY:CABLES
- Defect
- VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE MAIN BATTERY CABLE CAN CONTACT A BODY PANEL LOCATED IN THE TRUNK, RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE CABLE INSULATION.
- Consequence
- IF THE BODY PANEL COMES IN CONTACT WITH THE CABLE WIRE, A SHORT CIRCUIT, LOSS OF ELECTRICAL SUPPLY, OR FIRE COULD OCCUR.
- Remedy
- DEALERS WILL REPOSITION THE CABLE AND REPLACE ANY DAMAGED CABLES.
- Notes
- OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING OCTOBER 1997.OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT ROLLS-ROYCE AT 1-201-967-9100.ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMININISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-800-424-9393.
Battery cable may short circuit
The battery cable may contact a body panel edge, allowing the panel to cut its insulation. This could cause a short circuit, loss of electrical supply or fire. Cable routing will be inspected and repositioned if needed; worn cable will be repaired or replaced.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- POSSIBLE SHORT CIRCUITING
- Defect
- The main cable between the battery and the master switch can contact the edge of the body panel in the boot area. If the panel cuts through the cable insulation a short circuit may occur resulting in potential loss of electrical supply and a possible risk of fire.
- Remedy
- Affected vehicles are being recalled for inspection of the battery cable routing. Where insufficient clearance exists the cable will be repositioned. Additionally if the cable shows signs of wear it will be repaired or replaced as required.
Steering column bolts may damage brake pipes
Steering column bolts can contact brake pipes, causing a fluid leak and reduced braking performance. Dealers will reposition the pipes and replace any damaged ones.
