OBD-II fault code

U0572: Invalid Data Received From Vehicle Motion Control Module A

What it means

A receiving control module has detected invalid data from Vehicle Motion Control Module A. The code identifies the source of the data; it does not define an integrated controller or specify which data is invalid.

How it works

Vehicle Motion Control Module A sends motion-related data to other modules over the vehicle network. U0572 is set when a receiving module gets data attributed to Module A but judges it invalid; it does not identify the particular value or establish that Module A itself has failed.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Module internal fault or sensor input drift
  2. Software version mismatch after replacement
  3. Gateway module routing CAN messages incorrectly

Symptoms

  • Multiple warning lights may illuminate
  • Affected modules may go into limp mode or shut down
  • Specific functions inoperative depending on module
  • Diagnostic tools may show communication faults

How to diagnose it

  1. Scan all modules and save freeze-frame details, since companion chassis, stability, or network codes can help identify the affected data path.
  2. Note any warnings or changes in vehicle-motion functions, such as stability or handling assistance, and whether they began after module or software work.
  3. Inspect Module A's connectors, power and ground connections, and visible harness for corrosion, looseness, or damage.
  4. Use a capable scan tool to review available motion data from Module A and compare it with related wheel, steering, or yaw information for implausible readings.
  5. Check whether Module A has the correct software and configuration for the vehicle, particularly after replacement or programming.
  6. If the inputs and connections appear sound, test the network path and gateway routing using the manufacturer's diagnostic procedure.

Common fixes

  • Clean and secure a loose or corroded Module A connector.
  • Repair damaged Module A wiring or its power and ground connections.
  • Correct a software or configuration mismatch after module replacement.
  • Replace a faulty motion sensor input only when testing confirms it is drifting or invalid.
  • Repair the gateway or replace Module A only after network and module tests identify the fault.

Can I keep driving?

Use caution if stability or other motion-related assistance is unavailable, especially on slippery roads or during sudden manoeuvres. If steering or braking behaviour changes, stop driving when safe and have the vehicle assessed.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
