What it means
A control module has lost communication with turbocharger/supercharger control module B. Boost control may be affected on vehicles that use this module.
How it works
Turbocharger/supercharger control module B manages or coordinates boost-related functions on vehicles equipped with a second designated module. Other modules expect it to send network messages; U010D sets when messages from module B are missing long enough to count as a communication loss. The code does not establish whether module B or its power, wiring, or network path is at fault.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Loss of module power or ground
- Open, shorted, or damaged communication wiring or connector
- Module or gateway fault
Symptoms
- Warning lights or messages
- Communication faults in other modules
- Reduced engine power may occur
How to diagnose it
- Save all modules' codes and freeze-frame data, noting which ones report lost communication with control module B and whether the fault is current.
- Check battery condition and the fuses, power supply, and ground connections assigned to module B.
- Inspect module B's connector and nearby harness for corrosion, water entry, loose pins, or damage to the communication wiring.
- Check with a scan tool whether module B responds and whether other modules sharing its network are also offline.
- If module B has proper power and ground but does not respond, test its communication circuit and gateway path against the manufacturer's specification.
Common fixes
- Charge or replace a weak battery and clean poor battery connections.
- Replace a failed fuse or repair module B's power or ground connection.
- Repair damaged wiring or clean and secure the connector at control module B.
- Correct a confirmed gateway or network fault that blocks communication with module B.
- Replace or reprogram control module B only after its supply and communication circuits pass testing.
Can I keep driving?
If the vehicle remains controllable and has no reduced-power warning, drive gently only as needed to reach a safe place or repair facility; avoid hard acceleration and towing. Stop if power becomes unpredictable or a serious engine warning appears.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
