OBD-II fault code

P2EB0: Throttle Valve Intake Air Pressure Sensor Circuit

What it means

The ECM detects a circuit fault on the throttle valve intake air pressure sensor circuit. Reading cannot be used reliably for control.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test

How it works

The throttle valve intake air pressure sensor measures pressure in the intake passage at the throttle valve, helping the engine control module (ECM) manage airflow and engine operation. This code sets when the ECM detects a fault in the sensor circuit as a whole, so it cannot rely on that pressure reading for control.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Sensor failed
  2. Wiring or connector fault

Symptoms

  • Check-engine light
  • Rough idle or hesitation
  • Reduced engine power

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and compare the sensor reading with other intake pressure or airflow data on a scan tool.
  2. Inspect the throttle valve intake air pressure sensor connector and nearby harness for loose pins, corrosion, chafing, or damage.
  3. Check the sensor port and intake passage for dirt, blockage, or a disconnected hose if the design uses one.
  4. Test the sensor circuit's supply, ground, and signal for opens, shorts, or poor connections using the manufacturer's specification.
  5. If the wiring and passage are sound, test the sensor response to changing intake conditions before replacing it.

Common fixes

  • Reconnect a loose sensor plug or repair a damaged connector.
  • Repair chafed, open, or shorted wiring in the throttle valve intake air pressure sensor circuit.
  • Clean a blocked sensor port or restore a disconnected pressure passage.
  • Replace the sensor if its signal remains unreliable with a sound circuit.

Can I keep driving?

A short drive may be possible if the engine runs smoothly, but hesitation or reduced power can make merging and overtaking unsafe. Avoid hard acceleration and stop if the engine becomes difficult to control.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
