OBD-II fault code

P2C7C: Turbocharger Turbine Inlet Valve Supply Circuit Low

What it means

The supply circuit for the turbocharger turbine inlet valve actuator is below the expected voltage. The code does not by itself establish a boost-pressure fault or identify its cause.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

The turbine inlet valve actuator uses a supply circuit to power the valve that controls exhaust flow into the turbocharger turbine. The module monitors that supply and sets this code when its voltage is lower than expected. The low supply reading alone does not establish a boost fault or identify whether the fuse, wiring, or connection is responsible.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Supply fuse blown
  2. Supply wire shorted to ground
  3. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Significant power loss / limp mode
  • Possible blue or black smoke from exhaust
  • Whistling or hissing sound from intake

How to diagnose it

  1. Check freeze-frame data and related turbocharger or power supply codes to see when the low supply was detected.
  2. Inspect the turbine inlet valve actuator fuse, wiring, and connector for a blown fuse, shorted or heat-damaged wire, corrosion, or loose pins.
  3. Check the battery and charging system for broader supply problems that could affect the actuator circuit.
  4. Measure supply voltage at the actuator connector under the conditions specified by the manufacturer, comparing it with the manufacturer's specification.
  5. If supply remains low, isolate the circuit to check for a short to ground or excessive resistance before replacing the actuator.

Common fixes

  • Replace a blown fuse after identifying and correcting the cause of the overload.
  • Clean or repair corroded, loose, or damaged actuator connector terminals.
  • Repair a supply wire shorted to ground or otherwise damaged.
  • Replace the actuator only if its circuit supply is correct and the actuator itself fails testing.

Can I keep driving?

With significant power loss or limp mode, avoid high-speed roads, overtaking, towing, and steep climbs; arrange repair promptly. Stop if smoke is heavy, the engine runs abnormally, or power loss makes the vehicle unsafe to control.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
