What it means
The second input shaft speed sensor produces no pulses while the shaft is known to be turning.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
Input or turbine shaft speed sensor B reads the rotation of the transmission input shaft from passing tone-wheel features. P2767 sets when the shaft is known to be turning but the module receives no pulses from sensor B.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Tone wheel sheared or rotating loose
- Sensor failed completely
Symptoms
- Check-engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh or delayed shifts
- Speedometer or gear indication may behave erratically
- Transmission may enter limp mode
How to diagnose it
- Check freeze-frame data and live input-speed readings to confirm that sensor B stays at zero while the shaft is turning.
- Inspect sensor B’s connector and wiring for a disconnected plug, corrosion, breaks, or damage near the transmission.
- Check that sensor B is seated securely and positioned correctly at its tone wheel.
- Inspect the tone wheel for sheared, damaged, or loose features that could prevent sensor B from detecting rotation.
- Test sensor B’s output while the shaft turns and compare it with the manufacturer's specification.
Common fixes
- Reconnect and secure sensor B’s plug.
- Repair damaged wiring or connector terminals in the sensor B circuit.
- Replace a failed sensor B.
- Repair or replace a sheared or loose tone wheel.
Can I keep driving?
Avoid driving if the transmission shifts harshly, loses gear indication, or enters limp mode; arrange diagnosis promptly. Without sensor B pulses, the module may not control shifts reliably, which can increase transmission stress.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
