What it means
Torque management request input signal A is above the expected limit. The code does not identify the cause or control response.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
The powertrain control module uses torque management requests to coordinate engine torque with other systems, often during a shift or another load change. P2547 sets when input signal A is higher than the module expects, which can happen if its signal wire is pulled toward a reference voltage or a received network value is stuck high.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal wire shorted to reference voltage
- CAN message stuck at maximum value
Symptoms
- Reduced engine power or limited torque response
- Delayed or altered shifting
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and check live data for torque management request signal A to see whether it is fixed high or changes with operating conditions.
- Check for related communication or powertrain codes that may point to the module or network sending the high request.
- Inspect the signal A wiring and connectors for damage, corrosion, or contact with a reference-voltage wire.
- Use the vehicle wiring diagram to test signal A for a short to reference voltage and compare readings with the manufacturer's specification.
- If the signal is carried over the network, verify the relevant messages and network wiring before suspecting a control module.
Common fixes
- Repair chafed signal A wiring or a short to reference voltage.
- Clean, secure, or repair a damaged signal A connector.
- Repair network wiring or address the sending module fault if data confirms a stuck-high message.
- Replace a faulty module only after its inputs, wiring, and network communication have been checked.
Can I keep driving?
Drive gently only if engine response and shifting remain predictable; avoid towing, hard acceleration, and situations that require rapid power changes. If power becomes limited or shifting is harsh or unpredictable, stop driving and arrange diagnosis.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
