OBD-II fault code

P2392: Diesel Intake Air Flow B Control Circuit Low

What it means

The control module detects a low electrical condition in the diesel intake air flow B control circuit.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test

How it works

The diesel intake air flow B control circuit carries the electrical control signal for valve B’s actuator. This code sets when the module sees the circuit voltage lower than expected, which can happen with a short to ground or excessive resistance in the connection.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Control line shorted to ground
  2. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
  3. Harness chafing through insulation

Symptoms

  • Check-engine light on
  • Possible reduced engine power or sluggish response

How to diagnose it

  1. Save freeze-frame data and check live commanded and actual positions for valve B to confirm whether its control is affected.
  2. Inspect valve B’s harness for chafing, crushed insulation, or contact with metal that could ground the control line.
  3. Check the valve B connector for water, corrosion, loose terminals, and poor pin contact.
  4. With the circuit isolated as directed by the manufacturer, test the control wire for a short to ground and check continuity through the harness.
  5. If the wiring is sound, test the actuator and module circuit using the manufacturer’s specification and diagnostic procedure.

Common fixes

  • Repair chafed or pinched wiring shorted to ground in the valve B control circuit.
  • Clean and secure corroded or loose connector terminals.
  • Replace a failed valve B actuator if it pulls the circuit low and tests confirm the failure.
  • Repair a verified module-side circuit fault.

Can I keep driving?

The vehicle may have sluggish response or reduced power, so avoid fast traffic and heavy loads until the circuit is repaired. Stop if power loss or rough running prevents safe control.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
