What it means
Same as P0669 on internal sensor B. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
The control module monitors the signal circuit from internal temperature sensor B. P06AE sets when the signal is higher than expected, which can result from an open sensor or circuit, poor terminal contact, or the signal wire touching a higher-voltage source.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Sensor internal open
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
- Supply wire pinched against B+ source
Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Possible limp mode or no-start
- Multiple follow-up faults across modules
- Reset/relearn may be needed after repair
How to diagnose it
- Scan all modules and save freeze-frame data to see whether the high signal coincided with other module faults or a no-start.
- Check live data for internal temperature sensor B and observe whether the reading is implausibly high or changes during a gentle harness wiggle.
- Inspect the sensor B wiring and module connector for an open, corrosion, moisture, pushed-back pins, or contact with a B+ wire.
- Use the wiring diagram to check signal-circuit continuity and test for a short to a higher-voltage supply, following the manufacturer's procedure.
- If wiring and terminals pass inspection, test internal sensor B and the module input to the manufacturer's specification.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure poor or corroded connector contacts.
- Repair an open or damaged sensor B signal wire.
- Repair wiring shorted to a higher-voltage source and secure the harness away from it.
- Replace the internal sensor B or repair the control module if testing identifies the failed component, then perform any required relearn.
Can I keep driving?
A high sensor signal can be accompanied by limp mode, multiple module faults, or a no-start, so keep any necessary trip short and avoid high-speed or demanding driving. Stop if engine operation becomes unreliable or the vehicle loses power.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
