What it means
Fault on brake pedal feedback pressure solenoid — used in brake-by-wire systems to provide pedal feel.
At a glance
- Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
In a brake-by-wire system, the brake pedal feedback pressure solenoid helps create the expected feel at the pedal. The brake control module monitors this solenoid circuit and stores C0024 when the circuit or solenoid does not respond as expected.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Solenoid coil failure
- Open or shorted wiring
- Loose or corroded connector
- Brake control module fault
Symptoms
- ABS warning light on
- ESC/stability control deactivated
- Possible reduced brake assist
- Speedometer may behave erratically
How to diagnose it
- Read brake-control codes and freeze-frame data to check whether C0024 is accompanied by pedal-feedback or power-supply faults.
- Inspect the feedback-pressure solenoid connector and harness for corrosion, loose pins, chafing, or damage.
- Check the brake-control system’s power supply and grounds before testing the solenoid.
- Test the solenoid circuit for continuity and shorts using the manufacturer’s diagnostic procedure.
- If the circuit is intact, test the solenoid coil and commanded response according to the specified procedure.
- Evaluate the brake control module only after the solenoid, wiring, connectors, power, and grounds pass their checks.
Common fixes
- Repair damaged wiring or clean and secure the feedback-solenoid connector.
- Correct a faulty brake-control power or ground connection.
- Replace the failed pedal feedback pressure solenoid if testing confirms it.
- Repair or replace the brake control module if its control output is faulty after circuit checks.
Can I keep driving?
Brake-by-wire pedal feel or assistance may be affected, and ABS or stability control may be disabled. Avoid driving if pedal response feels abnormal; arrange prompt brake-system diagnosis and stop if braking is unreliable.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
