What it means
This indicator shows that the electrically heated windscreen is switched on to help clear mist, frost, or ice. Amber commonly indicates that the feature is active, but the symbol, colour, and automatic shut-off behaviour vary by manufacturer.
What the symbol looks like: Three upward wavy lines rising from a curved windscreen outline indicate the heated windscreen.
Why it comes on
- The driver switched on the heated-windscreen control
- A climate or defrost mode activated it
- The vehicle automatically switched it on in cold conditions
- A control or electrical fault may keep the indicator on unexpectedly
What to do
- Check that the windscreen is clearing and visibility is improving
- Switch the heater off when it is no longer needed
- Use the owner’s manual to identify the control and any automatic shut-off behaviour
- If it will not switch off or does not heat, arrange an electrical-system check
Can I keep driving?
You can drive with the heater on if visibility is safe. Do not continue until the windscreen is clear enough for a safe view of the road.
Symbols and colours differ between makes and models. Your owner’s manual shows the exact lights of your car.
