Green indicators

Turn signals / hazard lights

What it means

A flashing green arrow usually means a turn signal is operating; both arrows flashing usually mean the hazard lights are on. Green is an information signal, and the display, flash rate, and colour can vary by manufacturer.

What the symbol looks like: Two solid arrows pointing away from each other: one pointing left on the left, one pointing right on the right.

Why it comes on

  • A turn signal was selected.
  • The hazard-light switch was pressed.
  • A turn signal may be flashing faster than usual because a bulb or circuit has a fault.

What to do

  1. Check that the signal matches the direction you intend to turn.
  2. Cancel the signal after turning or changing lanes.
  3. If the flash rate is unusually fast, check the exterior signal lamps when safe.
  4. Use the owner's manual if the indicator behaviour is unfamiliar.

Can I keep driving?

You can usually keep driving with a normally operating signal. If a lamp has failed, signal clearly and arrange a repair; avoid relying on a signal other drivers may not see.

Symbols and colours differ between makes and models. Your owner’s manual shows the exact lights of your car.
