Green indicators

Side lights / parking lights on

What it means

This indicator shows that the side or parking lights are switched on. Green is informational, but the symbol and which lamps illuminate vary by manufacturer; consult the owner's manual.

What the symbol looks like: Two small lamp shapes facing outward, each with short rays.

Why it comes on

  • The driver selected side or parking lights.
  • A parking-light function was left on after switching off the vehicle.
  • An automatic lighting setting activated the position lamps.

What to do

  1. Check which exterior lamps are on and whether the vehicle is parked or being driven.
  2. Select the appropriate headlight setting for current visibility and road rules.
  3. Switch off parking lights when they are no longer needed, following the owner's manual.
  4. If the lamps remain on unexpectedly, check the lighting controls and arrange an inspection if needed.

Can I keep driving?

Side lights alone may not provide enough illumination for driving in darkness or poor visibility. Use the required headlights and avoid leaving parking lights on if they could drain the battery.

Symbols and colours differ between makes and models. Your owner’s manual shows the exact lights of your car.
