Amber and yellow lights

Charging cable connected

What it means

This indicates that a charging cable is connected or that charging is in progress, so the vehicle may not be ready to move. Amber often serves as a reminder or status signal, but colour and whether the light stays on vary by manufacturer.

What the symbol looks like: A plug or charging connector beside a battery or vehicle symbol indicates that a charging cable is connected; the display varies by model.

Why it comes on

  • The charging connector is plugged into the vehicle
  • A scheduled or active charging session is underway
  • The connector is not fully removed after charging
  • The vehicle detects a connected cable or charging fault

What to do

  1. Put the vehicle in Park and apply the parking brake.
  2. Stop or unlock the charging session using the vehicle or charger instructions.
  3. Remove the connector by its handle, following the owner's manual.
  4. Check the display confirms the cable is disconnected before selecting Drive.

Can I keep driving?

Do not try to drive while the cable is connected or the vehicle indicates it is not ready. Once disconnected and the vehicle confirms readiness, drive normally unless another warning remains.

Symbols and colours differ between makes and models. Your owner’s manual shows the exact lights of your car.
