What it means
The warning indicates that the adaptive headlight system may not be operating correctly, so automatic beam direction or other adaptive functions may be unavailable. Amber generally signals a fault to check soon, but the symbol, colour, and remaining headlight operation vary by manufacturer.
What the symbol looks like: A headlamp symbol with curved arrows or beams indicating that the lights can swivel or adapt.
Why it comes on
- A headlamp swivel motor or actuator has failed.
- A steering-angle, ride-height, or other position sensor is faulty.
- A headlamp leveling mechanism is obstructed or damaged.
- A wiring, connector, fuse, or control-module fault has interrupted the system.
What to do
- Read any accompanying message and check the owner's manual.
- Check from outside the vehicle that both headlights are lit and aimed normally.
- Use the standard headlight setting if the manual describes a safe fallback.
- Arrange diagnosis promptly, especially if a headlight is out or the beam aim appears wrong.
Can I keep driving?
If both headlights work and visibility is adequate, you may usually drive cautiously to a repair location. Avoid night driving if a lamp is out or the beams are misdirected.
Symbols and colours differ between makes and models. Your owner’s manual shows the exact lights of your car.
