What is the Volkswagen ID. Buzz?
The ID. Buzz is Volkswagen’s all-electric passenger van, with styling that reworks familiar Bulli cues for the ID. range. Its upright shape and spacious layout suit family journeys and carrying everyday essentials. The large windows and short front end give the cabin a different feel from a conventional car.
The first generation, code EB, spans 2022 to today. It uses Volkswagen Group’s MEB electric platform, with the battery housed beneath the floor. That layout and the electric drive give the ID. Buzz a fresh take on the people-carrying van that has long been part of Volkswagen’s identity.
Electric motors and power
Every listed version is electric. EU power ranges from 70 kW (95 PS) to 250 kW (340 PS). Among the leading versions in EU registrations were the 210 kW (286 PS), 150 kW (204 PS) and 250 kW (340 PS) models. Canadian listings cover 210 kW (286 PS) and 250 kW (340 PS) versions. US EPA listings include four versions.
As an electric vehicle, the ID. Buzz has no petrol or diesel engine. Official energy-use and CO₂ results vary by version and market.
Where is the ID. Buzz listed?
EU registration figures cover 2021–2025 and record 45,762 vehicles. US EPA listings span 2025–2027, while Canadian NRCan listings cover 2025. Test procedures differ by market: Europe uses WLTP or NEDC, the USA uses EPA testing, and Canada uses the 5-cycle procedure, so results are not directly comparable.
The ID. Buzz carries Volkswagen’s Bulli design heritage into its electric ID family. Its MEB platform and battery beneath the floor shape a modern van around electric drive and passenger space.
